Strictly Come Dancing’s first axing saw Jacqui Smith voted off the show after a horror critique on Saturday night

Strictly’s Jacqui Smith, former home secretary, is first star to leave the show

Strictly Come Dancing star Jacqui Smith has become the first contestant to exit the 2020 series after being compared to a “stumbling drunk lost at a party”.

The former home secretary got the boot after a dance off with Jacqui and partner Anton du Beke, who performed their Samba to Help Yourself by Tom Jones.

They went up against Jamie Laing and his partner Karen Hauer, who performed their American Smooth to Night and Day by Frank Sinatra.

Pals of Jacqui have defended her performance and believe she did not get enough credit.
