What Does Vitamin D Do? Pros & Cons
====================================

“Dr. Sam – I keep hearing about the importance of vitamin D and about all of its amazing benefits. But, what does Vitamin D actually do?”
A very simple and yet, great question.
Vitamin D helps regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body.
These nutrients are needed to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy.
This is because your body can only absorb calcium, the primary component of bone, when vitamin D is present.
Vitamin D also regulates many other cellular functions in your body. It helps support:
Healthy inflammation reduction
Antioxidant protection
Has Neuroprotective properties for the brain
Immune health
… and many more health functions that we take for granted on a daily basis.
However, there’s something very important to know and that’s Vitamin D, works directly with Vitamin K, to help optimize calcium absorption and minimize negative side effects.
In fact, too much vitamin D or when taken by itself, can actually cause excess calcium to build up in the arteries, which you do NOT want..
This is Because the extra calcium buildup can decrease blood flow and cause narrowing of blood vessels, which may lead to heart and brain problems.
So, the correct, healthy and optimal way is to supplement with the correct form and combination of these two vitamins — which is Vitamin D3 + K2 [more specifically as MK-7 (trans menaquinone-7)]
This two-vitamin combination works naturally with your body to help optimize all the positive functions, while minimizing or even helping to eliminate the negative effects
So, don’t take either of these vitamins by themselves. And only take the D3 + K2 forms, together in one pill at the same time. Preferably in the morning with food.
