A woman has been left critically ill after falling 30 metres (100ft) from a ride at a carnival.

The terrifying incident happened on a ride called ‘The Hangover’ – a roller coaster that swings people through the air, in Queensland, Australia on Saturday.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the Cairns ShowFest where the 25-year-old woman had already suffered ‘significant head and spinal injuries’.

According to 7news, there are unconfirmed reports that the woman was not strapped into the ride correctly.

Bonnie Thistle, who witnessed the horrific fall, said the victim “slid out like a banana”.

She told the news outlet: “All I could hear from a distance, even over the speakers and everything, was a lady yell, ‘I’m falling out’.
