Singer, Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley, has been arraigned arraigned before an Abuja mobile court for violating COVID-19 protocols.

On June 8, Naira Marley and his manager travelled from Lagos to Abuja and back to Lagos for a drive-through concert in Abuja.

The FCT Administration filed a four-count charge against him for hosting a concert in Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja, in clear violation of COVID-19 directives on June 13, flouting the presidential ban on Interstate travels and public gatherings.

He was this morning arraigned before an Abuja mobile court, and after the charges were read to him, the singer pleaded guilty and the presiding magistrate Idayat Akanni handed down a fine of N200,000 on him.

This comes a day after a mobile court in Lagos also fined him and his manager N100, 000 for travel out of the state for the concert.

A statement from the spokesperson of the state police command, Bala Elkana, said Naira Marley was arraigned alongside his Manager Seyi Awouga on a one-count charge of ”breach of the cessation of movement and interstates travel order made by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under Regulation 4(i) of the Lagos State Infectious Disease Emergency Prevention) Regulation No 2 of 2020 and committed an offence punishable under Section 58 Public Health Law, Ch. P16, Laws of Lagos State 2015”
