Chancellor Rishi Sunak has ripped up his winter economic support plan before autumn is even out, with new help for businesses and the self employed announced – but what you get depends on what Tier you’re in

New plans have been announced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak as the extent of the economic damage done by new coronavirus restrictions has become clear.

Acknowledging more needs to be done to support people in Tier 2, he said the impact was “worse than they hoped” in hospitality “causing profound economic harm to their industry”.

So he changed things.

“We will listen and respond to people’s concerns as the situation demands,” Sunak told the House of Commons.

“Today we go further.”

There were also changes to job and business support – as well as more help for the self employed – that applied across the board.
